Rapinal B – Nonionic Degreasing Agent for Leather Processing

High-Performance Degreasing Agent for Hides and Skins

Rapinal B is a powerful nonionic degreasing agent specially developed for the leather industry. Suitable for all types of hides and skins, it effectively removes natural fats, fatty acids, oils, and dirt while improving the cleanliness, smoothness, and uniformity of the pelt.

In addition to its excellent degreasing properties, Rapinal B can be used during soaking, liming, deliming, and bating processes to enhance chemical penetration and accelerate beamhouse operations. Its versatile formulation makes it an ideal solution for modern tanneries seeking efficient and sustainable leather processing.

Why Choose Rapinal B?

Proper degreasing is essential for producing high-quality leather with consistent softness, dye penetration, and grain appearance. Rapinal B has been formulated to provide outstanding emulsifying power while ensuring compatibility with a wide range of leather-processing chemicals.

Key Benefits:

  • Powerful nonionic degreasing agent for all types of hides and skins.
  • Excellent emulsifying power for fats, oils, fatty acids, and dirt.
  • Improves cleanliness and smoothness of the pelt.
  • Promotes uniform grain and leather quality.
  • Enhances the penetration of tanning and auxiliary chemicals.
  • Suitable for soaking, liming, deliming, and bating operations.
  • Effective in both acidic and alkaline processing conditions.
  • Soluble in both cold and warm water.
  • Free from alkylphenols (AP) and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO).
  • Readily biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

How Rapinal B Works?

Rapinal B acts by emulsifying and dispersing fats, oils, and impurities present in hides and skins. Its advanced surfactant system allows grease and dirt to be removed efficiently, resulting in cleaner and more uniform leather.

The product promotes:

  • Better removal of natural fats and oils.
  • Improved chemical penetration.
  • More even distribution of fatliquors and auxiliaries.
  • Cleaner grain surfaces.
  • Enhanced softness and smoothness.
  • Uniform processing results.

Because Rapinal B works effectively in both acidic and alkaline media, it offers exceptional flexibility throughout various stages of leather production.

Applications:

Rapinal B is recommended for:

  • Degreasing sheep, goat, and bovine hides.
  • Soaking operations.
  • Liming processes.
  • Deliming and bating.
  • Pickled leather degreasing.
  • Wet-blue processing.
  • Leather preparation before tanning and finishing.

Outstanding Degreasing Performance

Rapinal B provides excellent emulsification of:

  • Natural fats.
  • Fatty acids.
  • Oils and greases.
  • Surface contaminants.
  • Dirt and residues.

Its strong emulsifying properties improve the efficiency of downstream processes and help achieve higher-quality leather with consistent characteristics.

Recommended Dosage:

Sheep Pelts

  • 3.0–4.0% based on pelt weight.
  • No additional solvent required.

Pickled Sheep Skins

  • 2.5–3.0% based on pickled weight.
  • Can be used without solvents.

Soaking, Liming, Deliming, and Bating

  • 0.3–0.5%.

When solvents are used together with Rapinal B during degreasing, the dosage of Rapinal B may be reduced by up to 40%. The optimum dosage depends on the leather type, fat content, and processing conditions.

Compatibility and Processing Notes

Rapinal B can be used in both acidic and alkaline pH ranges and dissolves quickly in cold or warm water.

The product is free from:

  • Alkylphenols (AP).
  • Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO).

For processes involving vegetable syntans or synthetic replacement syntans, Rapinal B may form precipitation. In such cases, separate bating operations are recommended.

Environmental Advantages:

Modern tanneries increasingly demand chemicals with improved environmental profiles. Rapinal B supports sustainable leather manufacturing by offering:

  • APEO-free formulation.
  • Readily biodegradable composition.
  • Reduced environmental impact.
  • Improved process efficiency.
  • Lower chemical consumption when used with solvents.
